Pirates

Elizabeth

: Yes, the rum is gone.
Jack Sparrow: Why is the rum gone?
Elizabeth: One, because it is a vile drink that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels. Two, that signal is over a thousand feet high. The entire royal navy is out looking for me. Do you really think that there is even the slightest chance that they won't see it?
Jack Sparrow: But why is the rum gone?

bewarepirates.jpg

Can I just say, I adore this movie....both of them and cannot wait for the third! I love and enjoyed every minute..some peeps say there was no plot..no plot? Hello....can u say Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom...thats plot enough. But seriously, I thought it had a wonderful plot...pirates, damsel in not too much distress, scary creature with tentacles on his face and his equally scary crew. scary natives and that adorable mutt with the damn keys! And lots of beautiful ocean! It's thumbs up all the way for me baby....and you know how much I love scary things...and quite honestly...pirates and vampires totally turn me on! I find them quite sexy! Go see it!

A vampyre kiss

BLACK HEART

Your eyes, black as the night,

Your hunger, so very strong.

I resist you with all my might.

I know what we do is so wrong.

Your eyes pierce my very soul,

Our kiss has sealed my fate.

Your hate has taken it’s toll.

I am aware all too late.

Your lust, seeks my pain,

You own my spirit and soul.

Love left with a bloodstain.

Innocence that you stole.

Love, passion, tis lost,

We loved at the start,

My Valentine, but at what cost?

You and your Blackheart.

~Toto~

I wrote the above poem a few years ago.

lustvamp.gif

He bent his head and kissed her palm. The sudden unexpected sensuality of it took her breath away.

"What is it like?" Ardeth asked.

"Like food," he said, pausing to glance up at her, "or love."

Some meals are sustenance, some feasts of delight." He leaned over to put his lips against her wrist, to run his tongue along her vein. "Some acts of love are mere biology, some a sacrament."

Oh, how we love our vamps!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

"Sarah lives in a mortuary.
Her father sells death for a living you see.
She paints her nails black, and she wears it too.
The other kids call her "Vampire freak".
She writes to Anne Rice, each and every week.
I wrote to Stan Rice instead about 'Some Lamb'."

From song Reno by Horus

vamp.jpg

LISTEN TO THEM: THE CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT. WHAT SWEET MUSIC THEY MAKE!” ~Vlad Dracula, “Bram Stoker’s Dracula

v.jpg

Origins

People have believed in vampires for over a thousand years. Stories have circulated for centuries about people drinking blood, souls returning from the dead and people unable to walk in the sunlight. The word "vampire" was probably coined somewhere in the mid-18th century. Several stories were published referencing vampires, but the most famous and relevant of all was

Bram Stoker's Dracula, first published in 1897.

Dracula

invented the vampire rules that, more or less, exist to this day:

A vampire cannot exist in the sunlight. A vampire can change into a wolf or a bat.

A vampire sucks the blood of the living, and doing so turns the living into vampires as well (unless the vampire chooses to kill its victim).

Since the vampire is undead, he is essentially immortal and does not age.

A vampire may not enter a home unless invited. A vampire is afraid of Holy Crosses, Holy Water and garlic.

Finally, a vampire may be killed by the act of driving a wooden stake through its heart.

chrisasdrac.jpg

"The fans, the vampire groupies, love the idea of this androgynous, preternatural figure stalking the night, and craving aesthetic pleasure just as he craves blood, wearing only the best velvet clothes, and savoring red roses." ---Anne Rice

"A vampire lives in a constant state of desire and disgust. His nature often revolts him, but he doesn't have the will to deny his indulgences. There's the killing, but there's also the pleasure, the sensuality, the lust. The sheer ecstasy of it all." ---"Forever Knight - Stranger Than Fiction"

lest.jpg

Stoker's thriller succeeded partially because of its intense sexual undercurrent. The vampire's nibbling can easily be interpreted as aggressive sexual behavior, and his female victims experience erotic submission as they relax and give in to his charms. One could also read several levels further, exploring themes of S&M as well as homosexual

tomlest.jpg

Lestat - "Evil is a point of view. God kills indiscriminately, and so shall we.
For no creatures under God are as we are, none so like him as ourselves.

Old Cemeteries and haunted places!

totograve.jpg

I adore old cemeteries and haunted places. Kansas is full of such places and I have visited many old cemeteries. I find them peacefull and restful. I have taken some very awesome pics of various cemeteries but don't have them posted on here. But, I do have some pics of some cemeteries and some info on some haunted places in Kansas.
Here are a couple of fun hauntings:

Diptheria Hill:

An old cemetery on a hill near Clay Center where people with diphtheria were buried alive. If you go out there and listen real carefully, you can hear babies crying and children playing.
grave.jpg

Canton, Jones cemetery:

Supposedly on nights with a full moon you could see the shadow of a body hanging from a tree and hear the hoof beats.

I don't have a pic of the below haunted cemetery, but it sounds delightful!

Los Angeles Pet Cemetery - Calabasas, California

Pets of movie stars and the rich and famous are buried here. There have been sightings of many different animal ghosts playing in this graveyard. The ghost that gets the most attention is the spirit of a great Dane named Kabar. Kabar belonged to Rudolph Valentino. The animal, deceased since 1929, still makes frequent appearances near its grave to lick the people that pass.

Stull Cemetery - Kansas City, Kansas
stull5.jpg

It's nickname is the Gates of Hell. It's said that the devil's child is buried here. A boy who was believed to be able to turn himself into a werewolf. Satanists conduct rituals in this graveyard. At the spring and autumn equinoxes evil forces are suppose to materialize.

This burned out church and quiet cemetery at Stull, Kansas
are reputedly the site of one of the
Seven Portals to Hell.

Some claim it an evil place; a frightening and even dangerous place
--a place with a hidden stairway to hell--a place where Satan comes to visit the grave of his child.

stull6.jpg

Stull Cemetery, and the abandoned church that rests next to it, is located in the tiny, nearly forgotten Kansas town of Stull. There is not much left of the tiny village, save for a few houses, the newer church and about twenty residents. However, the population of the place allegedly contains a number of residents that are from beyond this earth! In addition to its human inhabitants, the town is also home to a number of legends and strange tales that are linked to the crumbling old church and the overgrown cemetery that can be found atop Stull’s Emmanuel Hill. For years, stories of witchcraft, ghosts and supernatural happenings have surrounded the old graveyard.

"The devil had a child with a local witch. The witch was hung in a tree and the boy was killed. The tree that she was hung from fell over and opened a gateway to hell. Many stories say that a large group of people went out into the cemetery on Halloween and the next day they were found all slaughtered. Witnesses report a demon like creature watching them from the doorway of the abandoned church on the hill of the cemetery. Do not go in the cemetery. Many bad things could happen."

Easter bunnies

Where did the Easter bunny come from...you ask..well, sit right down and hear this tale...

"The original Easter Bunny myth comes from a pagan holiday which was celebrated on the Vernal Equinox. According to Pagan legend, Ostara, the goddess of spring, turned a bird into a rabbit. The rabbit was supposedly able to fly as fast as the bird could fly, but it was still disappointed that it was a rabbit and not a bird. Ostara had pity on the creature, and one day out of every year, on the Vernal Equinox, she allowed the rabbit to lay eggs like a bird. Due to the proximity of Easter and the Vernal Equinox, converted pagans continued to associate the myth with their new holiday, and the idea has been passed down ever since."

~ty to Wikipedia~

Are you or someone you know thinking about getting a rabbit for Easter? Each year, unwanted, former Easter rabbits fill local rabbit rescues and humane societies. Find out about the Make Mine Chocolate Campaign.

What are Devilbunnies?

The Bunnies are a species dedicated to the reclamation of the earth for the innocent creatures that live therein. We Devilbunnies seek to repair the damage humans do, and to protect mother Earth. We will succeed because we are smarter, quicker, more innovative, and right. We shall overcome!

http://www.devilbunnies.org/

And there you have it! Some mythology and why not to buy Easter bunnies! Have I helped? I certainly hope so! So remember, buy chocolate bunnies and also watch for the devilbunnies! Oh yeah! So also remember..no matter how damn cute...think before you buy!

Tornado!!!

Ok, tis the season...tornado season that is...eeekkkk!
My family and I relocated from sunny, Southern
California to sunny, windy, quick-changing weather
patterns, Kansas. Having been born and raised in
So.Cali...this tornado phenomenon cast quite a huge
shadow or funnel cloud over us. Although, we have
had only a couple of close calls in the past 8 years,
it still gets me a bit rattled when the season hits!! We
are in the process of getting our own storm shelter,
SOON! Anyhoo, thought I would share a couple of pics
and some info for those who are not well aquainted
with this freak of mother nature!

tornadoandlightening.jpg

What Is A Tornado?

A tornado is a violent windstorm characterized by a twisting, funnel-shaped cloud. It is spawned by a thunderstorm (or sometimes as a result of a hurricane) and produced when cool air overrides a layer of warm air, forcing the warm air to rise rapidly. The damage from a tornado is a result of the high wind velocity and wind-blown debris. Tornado season is generally March through August, although tornadoes can occur at any time of year. They tend to occur in the afternoons and evenings: over 80 percent of all tornadoes strike between noon and midnight.

When a tornado threatens, individuals need to have a safe place to go and time to get there. Even with advances in meteorology, warning times may be short or sometimes not possible. Lives are saved when individuals receive and understand the warning, know what to do, and know the safest place to go.

 The Fujita scale:

F-1- wind speeds-73-112--The lower limit is the beginning of hurricane wind speed; peels surface off roofs; mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned; moving autos pushed off the roads; attached garages may be destroyed.

F-2-wind speeds-113-157--Considerable damage. Roofs torn off frame houses; mobile homes demolished; boxcars pushed over; large trees snapped or uprooted; light object missiles generated.

F-3-wind speed-158-206--Roof and some walls torn off well constructed houses; trains overturned; most trees in forest uprooted

F-4-wind speed-207-260--Well-constructed houses leveled; structures with weak foundations blown off some distance; cars thrown and large missiles generated.

F-5-wind speeds-261-318--Strong frame houses lifted off foundations and carried considerable distances to disintegrate; automobile sized missiles fly through the air in excess of 100 meters; trees debarked; steel re-inforced concrete structures badly damaged.

Some Mardi gras facts

The History of Mardi Gras

M

ardi Gras came to New Orleans through its French heritage in 1699. Early explorers celebrated this French Holiday on the banks of the Mississippi River. Throughout the years, Orleanians have added to the celebration by establishing krewes (organizations) which host parades and balls. Carnival quickly became an exciting holiday for both children and adults.

M

ardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" and of course is celebrated on that day of the week. The date can fall between February 3 and March 9 depending on the Lunar calendar, used by the Catholic Church to determine the date of Easter. Mardi Gras is always 47 days before Easter Sunday.

The official colors for Mardi Gras are purple, green, and gold. These colors were chosen in 1872 by the King of Carnival, Rex. He chose these colors to stand for the following:

Purple represents justice

green stands for faith

gold stands for power

T

he Mardi Gras season begins on January 6 and continues until Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. On the Christian calendar, the twelfth day after Christmas is known as "Epiphany", "Twelfth Night", or "Kings Day." It is the day the gift-bearing Magi visited the baby Jesus, and is celebrated with its own unique rituals.
